Observatory of Precipitation / by House of Noise

We were asked by Artangel to create an immersive sound design experience for Artist Feifei Zhou’s latest work ‘Observatory of Precipitation’ as part of the World Weather Network.

Observatory of Precipitation is a collection of nine illustrated memories, triggered by words for weather.

Artist Feifei Zhou brings to life translations of memories belonging to a group of London poets, each inspired by a word for precipitation in one of their nine different languages.

Precipitation is a word that seeks to convey a multitude of meteorological and phenomenological processes: weather that is felt and seen falling from the sky.

How does weather influence experience and give shape to memory?
